Official: The Great Gatsby 2012 Trailer – Baz Lurhmann – Keeping the Magic Alive

And He does it again. Can Baz get nothing wrong?

Audiences have been eagerly anticipating the official release of the Great Gatsby trailer and here it is. Adorned in splendid glits and breathtaking glamour, this trailer promises to deliver what we have only come to expect from a Lurhmann/Dicaprio duo, pure excellence and flawless cinema.

Baz’s sheer brilliance combined with Leo’s onscreen dynamism framed by this all time classic can only mean one thing; this is going to be one for the record books.

With the added advantage of being set in the roaring 1920’s, Great Gatsby is without doubt set to exhibit dazzling costumes, flamboyant set designs and quality drama.

Adapting the classic novel of F. Scott Fitzgerald, the directors, writers and filmakers have taken on the enormous challenge not only to recreate an already pre-existing marvel but to do it with flare. With an innovative soundtrack with slight similiarities to the TRON: legacy sound, we can ,with confidence, hope for a dazzling display of sparks as the currant of new cinemographic effects ignites this timeless story.

Lovers of the novel are going to hold high expectations on this up and coming film. However, left to the acting credibility of Tobey Maguire and the up and coming, Carey Mulligan, who has recently been making a name for herself after acting alongside Ryan Gosling in the cinematic hit Drive, devotees of Fitzgerald can afford to sit back, relax and enjoy the show.

December 25th could not come fast enought this year. Here’s to Baz keeping the magic alive.

  1. Is it too early to predict Oscars for Set Design and costumes? It may be early – but this is the kind of film that will garner a boatload of Oscars.

I’m not going out on a limb about the script or acting – but I was pleased to seem= the international film star from Bollywood – Amitabh Bachchan cast as Meyer Wolfsheim.

    Thanks for the trailer.

    • It’s too early to be sure, but there definitely are predictions that The Great Gatsby will be nominated for: Best Motion Picture, Best Actress(Mulligan), Best Supporting Actor(Maguire), Best Art Direction, Cinematography, and Best Costume Design. Not too sure about adapted screenplay. And Yes! Stoked to see Bachchan there.
